Photowalk is a hands-on photography and storytelling program where students explore their surroundings, learn camera techniques, and develop creative narratives. Over the course of the program, they capture images, design a collaborative zine, and present their work in a final showcase.

Our Program
Learn photography skills
Camera operation, framing, composition, exposure, and creative techniques
Explore the neighborhood
Field trips to destinations such as the New York Botanical Garden, Bronx Zoo, and other local cultural sites
Create & publish
Curate, design, and produce a high-quality printed zine featuring student photographs and written reflections
Present & share
Host a showcase event where students present their zine and creative process to peers, staff, and families

Length: 4 weeks - a focused, month-long program.

2 PROFESSIONAL INSTRUCTORS
Eperienced teaching artists lead every session and field trip, providing both technical guidance and creative inspiration.
HANDS-ON PHOTOGRAPHY INSTRUCTION
Students learn iPad photography through step-by-step lessons, followed by guided shoots at neighborhood landmarks.
ART & DESIGN MATERIALS
All supplies needed for editing, layout, and zine-making are provided, ensuring students can focus fully on their creativity.
PROFESSIONAL ZINE PRINTING
Each student receives a beautifully bound 20-page zine, with additional copies printed for the school library and archive.
FINAL SHOWCASE EVENT
Students present their work at a school-hosted exhibition, celebrating their creativity with peers, staff, and families.
